Grammar practice: Comparatives and Superlatives(Սեղմեք և կատարեք)
Մենք ածականների համեմատական և գերադրական աստիճանները ցույց տալու համար միավանկ ածականներին ավելացնում ենք ‘-er’ , և ‘-est’:
small(փոքր) – smaller(ավելի փոքր) – the smallest(ամենափոքր)
‘ier’ և ‘-iest’ ավելացնում ենք ‘y’-ով վերջացող երկվանկանի ածականներին, երբ ‘y’-ից առաջ ունենք բաղաձայն: Այս դեպքում ‘y’-ը դուրս է գալիս:
happy(ուրախ) – happier(ավելի ուրախ) – the happiest(ամենաուրախ)
Բազմավանկ ածականների համեմատական աստիճանը կազմում ենք՝ օգտագործելով ‘more’: (beautiful – more beautiful :գեղեցիկ-ավելի գեղեցիկ), իսկ գերադրականը՝ ‘the most’-ի օգնությամբ: ( beautiful– the most beautiful:ամենագեղեցիկ).

Once upon a time (ժուկով-ժամանակով) there lived a king. This king announced (հայտարարեց) throughout the land:
“I will give half my kingdom (թագավորությանս կեսը) to the man who can tell a lie that I can agree that is a lie.”
A shepherd (հովիվ) came and said, “My father has got a pipe (խողովակ). The pipe is very long and he can stir (խառնել) the stars with it».
“That’s possible,” answered the King. “My grandfather had a pipe. He used to (սովորություն ուներ) put one end of it in his mouth and stretch (ձգել) the other up to the sun to light it.”
The man went out scratching (քորելով) his head.
A tailor came and said, “I am sorry, O King, to have come so late. Wind (քամի), storm (փոթորիկ) and lightning (կայծակ) did not let me come early”. I was patching up the crack (ճեղք) of the sky.
“Oh, “I believe it is true” said the King, “but you haven’t patched it very well, for it rained a little again this morning.
This man also went away empty-handed (դատարկաձեռն).
A villager came in with a bag on his shoulder. “What do you want, my good man?” asked the King. “You owe (պարտք լինել) me a bag of gold. I have come for it.” “A bag of gold!” exclaimed (բացականչեց)the King astonished (զարմացած). “That s a lie (սուտ). I do not owe you anything.”
“All right. It is a lie. Then give me half your kingdom.”
“No, no. You’re quite right (Դուք միանգամայն ճիշտ եք). It’s not a lie,” the king tried to correct (ուղղել) himself.
“So I am telling the truth. Then give me the bag of gold.”
Answer the questions:

ONCE A MAN went to a place(վայր) to find some work. He came to a village(գյուղ) where he saw (տեսավ)people breaking up wood(փայտ)with their hands.
“Brothers,” he said, “why do it with your hands? Don’t you have an axe(կացին)?”
‘‘What’s an axe?” asked the villagers(գյուղացիներ).
The man took his axe from his belt(գոտի), cut the wood. Seeing this, the villagers ran through the village calling:
“Hey, everybody! Come and see what Brother Axe has done!”
The villagers gathered(հավաքվեցին) about the owner of the axe, asked him, gave him valuable gifts(արժեքավոր նվերներ) to take the axe from him.
The first day the king took the axe. As he wanted to cut with an axe, it fell on his foot and cut it. He started to cry with pain.
“Come here, everybody! Brother Axe has bitten(կծել) my foot.”
The villagers began to beat(ծեծել) the axe. Then they began to put it in the fire. The flames(բոցերը) rose high. When the fire had died down(հանգչել), they saw that the axe had turned red.
“Oh!” they cried, “Brother Axe is angry(բարկացել է). Look how red he has turned! What shall we do?
They finally decided(որոշեցին) to throw the axe into prison(բերդ). So they threw it into king’s barn(ամբար). The barn was full of hay(խոտ). As soon as the red-hot axe touched the hay a great fire started.
Terrified(Վախեցած), the villagers ran after its owner, they said, “Come, please, and bring Brother Axe to his senses(Կացին ախպորը խելքի բեր)!”
